Hello! My name is Steve Wang

I currently serve on the Barrington 220 School Board. I was first elected in 2021 and am now seeking re-election to continue the good work the district is doing and further the mission to elevate the Barrington 220 school district even higher. I originally moved to Barrington in 2013, a few months prior to the birth of my daughter, Savannah, who is currently a fifth-grader at Countryside Elementary School. Like many residents, the exceptional school district attracted me to the area. When my daughter was in kindergarten, I made the decision to run for school board to offer my time and skills to the district. My goal is for Barrington to be the best district in the nation and ensure our students have all the tools they need to be successful while they are in the district as well as post-graduation. My wife, Emily, and I just welcomed a baby boy, Lincoln (BHS class of 2043!), and I have a daughter who will be BHS class of 2032. As such, I also have a personal interest in investing my all in Barrington 220. Go Broncos!!

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

My academic training is in Corporate Finance and Business Economics from the University of Notre Dame. Professionally, I serve as the Vice President of Finance for a multi-billion-dollar, not-for-profit health care ministry serving both the Chicagoland and Northern Indiana regions. With a $64 million referendum recently approved and an ever-evolving and complex budget with a wide range of demands, I bring my experience to the Board and provide a skillset that would not be on the Board otherwise. Furthermore, I am a tireless worker who seeks to be a reflection of the diverse school district that is Barrington 220. I work diligently with all constituents in our district and strive to understand how I can best aid them and work with our administration to continuously advance our amazing school district.

Community Involvement

My family and I have a heart for public service and a profound love of education. In addition to being on the School Board, I have also been a Room Parent in Savannah’s class and the co-Leader of Girl Scout Troop 310 since she was in kindergarten, a weekly volunteer at Emmaus House food pantry, a High School Ministry Leader with Campus Life, and a volunteer for several other regional organizations, including the Barrington Chinese Immersion Council and Green Castle of Barrington (an Assisted Living Facility). I am also a Board Member for the Notre Dame Club of Lake County which regularly volunteers at Feed My Starving Children and Bernie's Book Bank, among others.

Estoy sirviendo en la Junta Escolar de Barrington 220. Fui elegido por primera vez en 2021 y ahora busco la reelección para continuar con el excelente trabajo que realiza el distrito y promover la misión de impulsar aún más el crecimiento del distrito escolar de Barrington 220. Originalmente me mudé a Barrington en 2013, unos meses antes del nacimiento de mi hija, Savannah, quien actualmente cursa quinto grado en la Escuela Primaria Countryside. Como muchos residentes, este excepcional distrito escolar me atrajo a la zona. Cuando mi hija estaba en kínder, decidí postularme para la junta escolar para ofrecer mi tiempo y mis habilidades al distrito. EXPERIENCIA PROFESIONAL

Mi formación académica es en Finanzas Corporativas y Economía Empresarial por la Universidad de Notre Dame. Profesionalmente, me desempeño como Vicepresidente de Finanzas de un ministerio de salud multimillonario sin fines de lucro que presta servicios tanto en el área metropolitana de Chicago como en el norte de Indiana. 专业经验

我和我的家人深爱着教育事业，积极投身公共服务。除了在学区董事会任职外，我还担任过女儿王逸班级的家长志愿者，自她上幼儿园以来，我一直担任她所在310号女童子军的辅导员。我每周在艾马斯之家食品银行担任志愿者，担任校园生活的高中部事工辅导员，并且是多个地区组织的志愿者，包括巴灵顿中文教育委员会和巴灵顿格林城堡（本地养老院）。我还是湖县圣母大学校友会的董事会成员，该校友会定期在“供养饥饿儿童”和“伯尼书库”等机构担任志愿者。
